The Saturday Paper is a weekly newspaper with a focus on narrative journalism.

Since its first edition, The Saturday Paper has promised to drag news out of the narrows into which it has been forced, to make a virtue of knowledge that is broad and deep. It promises to take on the task of explaining Australia.

The paper has carried issue-defining work from Karen Middleton, Rick Morton, Mike Seccombe and Martin McKenzie-Murray. It publishes writers such as Chloe Hooper, Bri Lee, Behrouz Boochani, Christos Tsiolkas, Kate Holden, Maddee Clark and Maxine Beneba Clarke.

Publisher Morry Schwartz says it is writers who define the paper. “Schwartz Media is a writer-based company,” he says. “Our ethic is our writers. Every culture has its own writers, who reflect that culture … A great writer is able to somehow feel the country. A country has to be told what it is. That’s the project.”

Mid-weight Graphic Designer

Schwartz Media is currently recruiting for a mid-weight graphic designer with a strong grasp of design principles across digital and print products. The successful candidate will utilise analytical thinking and creative design skills that effectively blend customer needs and tackle design and experience problems. They are a champion of digital experiences and can build iterative solutions to increase a variety of metrics, not least of all goal conversion. They are also confident in art directing new visual concepts with experience in identity design and art direction.
