The Changemakers

the pollsters are gleeful

                abbott’s time has come

things, they are about to change

around warringah way

cause 28

has finally

had his run

and we, the people

        better all believe

a new breeze

blows across middle harbour

cutting down

        along the spit bridge

                all hail the changemakers

of mosman, cremorne

and beauty point

they say the revolution will be born

where freshwater

         shirtfronts manly beach, they say

the revolution will march

through queenscliff

the polls have forecast

a cool change

        will bracket-creep

across the northern beaches, and

                progress is gonna come

from the great whitehouse-scandal seat

where household incomes double-out

the national median

listen here

don’t you know

         the abbott heartland

        is poised to speak

let us all hear from

the changemakers

who, for decades,

gifted him

                       to we, the people
